• Post-Graduate course in Botany has started from Academic Session 2017-18 in affiliation with West Bengal State University.

Eligibility Criteria: B.Sc (Hons) in Botany / Graduation in Life Science.

1.Well-equipped laboratories to cater to the demand of Post Graduate courses; facilities of carrying out Plant Tissue Culture, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Plant Physiology, Biochemistry, Cytology and all courses of PG Botany.

1. The Department had organized local field excursion to Diseased crop field at Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Kalyani, West Bengal in the session 2017-18.
2. The Department has organized long field excursion to Vizag-Araku Valley, Vishakhapattanam, Andhra Pradesh in the session 2017-18.
3. The Department has created a Herbarium of Flora collected during excursions from local and other phytogeographical zones.
4. It also conducts Students' Seminars and Project Assignments on syllabus topics.
5. A campus Green Audit for angiospermic herbs was carried out by PG Botany Sem-II students on 2nd February, 2018.

5. Nomenclature and reconstruction in fossil plants with examples.
6. Application of neopalynology and palaeopalynology.
7. Host pathogen interaction, recognition, mechanism and signal transduction during plant pathogen interaction.
8. Fungicides- inorganic and organic protectants, systemic fungicides and their mode of action.

Special grants from WB DBT for developing research facility The Department of Botany has received funding from the Department of Biotechnology, Government of West Bengal to set up a Biotechnology Laboratory with all the necessary equipments. This will enable the college to conduct full time Biotechnology classes with the assistance of the programme BOOST (Biotechnology Opportunities Offered to Science and Technology). This Laboratory will be utilized as Central Instrumentation Centre for all the Life Science Departments.

Post Graduate in Mathematics

• Post-Graduate course in Mathematics has started from Academic Session 2017-18 in affiliation with West Bengal State University.
• West Bengal State University syllabus is followed for the course.
• Specializations are offered in both Applied and Pure Streams:

The special papers offered are:
Applied Stream: Continuum Mechanics, Fluid Dynamics, Fundamentals of Mathematical Biology, Fuzzy Sets and its Applications.
Pure Stream: Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, Algebraic Topology and Category Theory, Advanced Topology, Differential Topology.

• The department has a well-equipped computer and computational laboratory.
• The college library has an adequate collection of books for the Post-Graduate course.

• All the teachers in this department are actively involved in research activities and regularly publish articles in reputed national and international journals.
• Dr. Hossain and Dr. Sen have collaborated as authors of books in their fields.
• The teachers have also acted as Resource Persons in various workshops and seminars.

• Students' Seminar in each course is part of the internal assessment. The students are encouraged to use PowerPoint/ Beamer for their presentations.

• The department has plans to augment the books necessary for PG course in the college library in the coming years.
• The department plans to purchase more computers and to make all the classrooms ICT enabled.
• The department has plans to organize special lectures by eminent mathematicians from Academic Session 2018-19 onwards.
• The department also hopes to organize for special training to appear for NET and similar entrance examinations for higher studies in Mathematics.
